5a. Share Links

When you share something from Fiatmo to somewhere outside Fiatmo — a messaging app, a social network, a printed QR code — we may create a share link: a short address that points at whatever you shared. The link records what you shared, that you were the one who shared it, and which app you said you were sending it to.

When someone opens one of your share links, we record the open. If they are signed in to Fiatmo we record which account opened it; if they are not, we record only a pseudonymous identifier from a cookie, which is not linked to any identity they have not established themselves. We also record the country their network reports, a salted and shortened one-way value derived from their network address, and whether the request came from a person or from a link-preview bot.

We do not tell you who opened your links. You are shown how many opens a link has received — never a list of people. That is a deliberate limit on the product, not only on this policy.

A share link cannot tell who a link was sent to. It only knows who opened it, and a link posted to a large group is indistinguishable from one sent to a single person.

Retention: open records are kept for 13 months, and the value derived from a network address is deleted after 30 days. Aggregate counts may be kept longer. Holding a share link never grants access to anything — whatever it points at applies its own privacy settings to whoever opens it.

If you delete your account, your share links stop being connected to you: the links keep working for people who already have them, but nothing records that they were yours, and the open records are stripped of anything identifying you.

6. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect and store information. These technologies help us:
